How we work
Editorial Policy
Sourcing and verification
Every factual claim in a Quiet Menace story should be traceable to a reliable source. We prefer primary sources such as company archives, official brand histories, patents, museum collections and contemporaneous reporting. Where a popular story is disputed or has been simplified over time, we say so instead of repeating the myth.
We do not fabricate quotes, statistics or people. When a story needs a number, it is a number we can source. When we are unsure, we leave it out.
How stories are built
Every story names its sources in the text and links out to the primary ones, carries a byline and a publication date, and shows when it was last updated. Product details, release dates and prices change, so we date our reporting and revise it when the facts move.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and update the date shown as Last updated at the top of the story. Material corrections are noted at the end of the article. To report an error, write to editors@quietmenace.com with the story link and the correction.
Photography and licensing
We use photographs from two sources only. Unsplash images are used under the Unsplash License and served from Unsplash, with the photographer credited and linked. Wikimedia Commons images are used only when they are in the public domain or licensed CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA, and never when they carry a non-commercial or no-derivatives restriction. Every image is credited on the page where it appears and listed on our image credits page.
Independence
Brands do not review or approve our stories before publication. We do not accept payment for coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, they will be clearly labeled as such on the page.
Updates to evergreen guides
Our guides are reviewed and updated as facts change. The Last updated date reflects the most recent substantive revision.
